Utah man gets life without parole after girlfriend found dead in box

A Utah man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after pleading guilty to the 2024 murder of his girlfriend, Summer Roney, in Herriman.

Jacob Holt Johnson was arrested after Roney’s body was discovered inside a cardboard box in the trunk of his Jeep at a gas station in Bluffdale.

The case, which began in 2024, has now concluded with a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
