Using SLC Scoop

SLC Scoop is a free local news site run by SLCSCOOP LLC of West Jordan, Utah. By using the site you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

You can read without an account. Some features, like saving stories and commenting, need one.

You must be at least 13 to create an account or send a tip. If you’re under 18, you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission.

02

Your account

  • Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens on your account.
  • Use an email address you can reach, so we can contact you about your account.
  • One person per account.
  • Pick a username that doesn’t pretend to be someone else.

Signing in with Google or Apple

Their own terms cover how they handle your sign-in.

03

Sending tips

Only send material you made yourself or have the right to share.

  • Don’t put yourself or anyone else in danger to get a photo or video.
  • Don’t send anything you know is false.
  • Emergencies go to 911, not to us.

We don’t pay for tips, and we don’t promise to publish every tip we get.

04

What you let us publish

You keep ownership of the photos and video you send.

Sending a tip gives SLC Scoop permission to publish, edit, crop, caption and share it on our site, apps, newsletter and social accounts, and in promoting SLC Scoop. The permission is free, isn’t exclusive, and doesn’t expire, so a published story can stay up.

Credit

We put your name on it only if you ask for credit when you send the tip.

Taking it down

If you change your mind, email us. We’ll take down material that hasn’t been published, and we’ll consider removing material that has.

Content rules

These rules cover tips, comments, usernames and profile photos.

  • No harassment, threats or hate
  • No sexual content involving minors
  • No sharing someone’s private information, like their home address or phone number
  • No pretending to be someone else
  • No spam, or ads disguised as tips or comments
  • Nothing that breaks the law or someone else’s copyright

Comments are public. We can remove any comment, turn comments off on a story, or close accounts that break these rules.

06

Our content

Our stories, photos and video belong to SLC Scoop or the people who licensed them to us. Share links to them anywhere. Don’t republish them in full without our permission.

Paid content is always labeled Sponsor or Paid Partner.

08

Closing your account

You can delete your account any time from Account settings. Here’s how.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts people at risk. We’ll usually tell you why by email, unless the law or someone’s safety stops us.

09

Our responsibility

We work hard to get the news right, and we correct mistakes when we find them. But SLC Scoop is provided as is, and we can’t promise it will always be accurate, complete or available.

As far as the law allows, SLCSCOOP LLC isn’t responsible for indirect losses from using the site, or for what other people post or link to.

10

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in Salt Lake County, Utah.

11

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll tell account holders by email. Using SLC Scoop after a change means you accept it.
