utah launches new statewide center to fight financial crime
The new Financial Crimes Intelligence Center will bring prosecutors, investigators, a forensic accountant and an intelligence analyst together to trace stolen money and connect fraud cases across Utah.
Utah has launched a new statewide Financial Crimes Intelligence Center to investigate and prosecute fraud cases that cross city, county and agency lines.
The team will connect investigators, prosecutors, financial analysts and banks to identify larger patterns involving identity theft, account takeovers, romance scams, elder fraud, cryptocurrency schemes and money laundering.
According to the Utah Attorney General’s Office, Utahns have lost nearly $450 million to financial crimes since 2020 including almost $60 million reported so far in 2026.
