CDC says parasite outbreak has reached Utah.
Health officials have confirmed 1–10 cases in Utah linked to a nationwide cyclospora outbreak that has sickened more than 850 people across at least 31 states.
Cyclospora is a parasite that can cause prolonged diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, fatigue, loss of appetite, and weight loss. Symptoms typically begin about a week after exposure and can last for several weeks if left untreated.
The CDC is continuing to investigate the source of the outbreak. If you’ve experienced persistent gastrointestinal symptoms after eating fresh produce or while traveling, consider contacting your healthcare provider.
