CNBC ranked Utah the fifth worst state for quality of life in 2026, citing healthcare access, childcare availability, worker protections, and air quality as the state's biggest weaknesses.
CNBC has ranked Utah as the 6th worst state in the nation for quality of life in its 2026 America’s Top States for Business rankings.
The ranking takes into account factors including healthcare access, childcare affordability and availability, worker protections, air quality, crime, and inclusiveness.
Despite Utah continuing to rank highly in several economic categories, its quality-of-life score placed it near the bottom nationally.
