A second water rights application tied to the controversial Stratos Project data center development in Box Elder County has officially been withdrawn.

According to state records, the application was canceled after hundreds of formal protests were submitted to the Utah Division of Water Rights.

The filing, submitted by Murray Hollow L.C., sought to convert existing water rights from agricultural and domestic use to industrial use connected to the proposed AI data center project and natural gas power generation.

The proposed development, known as “Wonder Valley Utah,” is connected to O’Leary Digital, a company owned by investor Kevin O’Leary.

Public opposition to the project has continued growing in recent months, with many residents and environmental advocates raising concerns about long-term water usage and possible impacts on the Great Salt Lake.

State officials confirmed the application is now considered withdrawn and canceled.

It remains unclear whether developers plan to submit another revised application in the future.

The larger Stratos Project remains in its early phases and still faces additional environmental reviews, planning approvals, and ongoing scrutiny surrounding its proposed water usage.
