utah governor declares sept. 10 'chralie kirk day'

Gov. Spencer Cox issued the proclamation on the one-year anniversary of Kirk's fatal shooting at Utah Valley University, while state and national officials shared tributes throughout the day.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox has declared September 10, 2026, “Charlie Kirk Day,” marking one year since the conservative activist was shot and killed at Utah Valley University in Orem.

Kirk, 31, co-founded Turning Point USA and was speaking at a campus event on September 10, 2025, when he was killed.

In announcing the designation, Cox called for people to reject political violence and engage respectfully with those who hold different views.
