A Jordan School District bus driver has been arrested after allegedly recording a 10-year-old girl while driving a school bus full of children in Herriman.

Gabriele Basile, 64, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Wednesday for investigation of two counts of voyeurism and using a cellphone while driving.

According to police, Basile allegedly recorded the girl on October 8 while she sat near the front of the bus. Investigators later found two videos of the same child on his phone, including one in his deleted files.

Authorities say the incident came to light after Basile’s wife discovered a video through their shared Google account. The allegations were subsequently reported to Jordan School District officials.

The district confirmed Basile was removed from driving duties after learning of the allegations and has since been fired.

The investigation remains ongoing.
