possible new armored dinosaur found at dig near moab, 138 to 141 million years old
Utah Geological Survey scientists say the site sits at the Jurassic-Cretaceous boundary and could be among the oldest Cretaceous dinosaur bone beds in North America.
Scientists with the Utah Geological Survey have uncovered fossils that may belong to a previously unknown species of armored dinosaur.
The discovery comes from a fossil site estimated to be 138–141 million years old, near the boundary between the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Researchers say the site could be among the oldest Cretaceous dinosaur bone beds in North America.
Further research is needed to confirm whether the fossils represent a new species.
