Monte, located on West Temple, received the honor in MICHELIN's inaugural Southwest Guide. Inspectors praised chef Martin Babio's refined tasting menu, local ingredients and French, Italian and South American influences.
Utah officially has its first-ever MICHELIN-starred restaurant.
Monte in South Salt Lake earned one MICHELIN Star in the inaugural 2026 MICHELIN Guide Southwest, making history for Utah. Chef Martín Babio’s tasting menu was recognized for its local ingredients and French, Italian and South American influences.
Eight other Utah restaurants also made the guide:
Bib Gourmand: Feldman’s Deli, One More Noodle House and Phở 777.
MICHELIN Recommended: Koyote, Star of India, Handle, Matilda and The Nelson Cottage by High West.
That makes 9 Utah restaurants recognized by MICHELIN in the state’s first year in the guide.
