ESPN’s Jeff Passan says Salt Lake City is “by far the most advanced potential bid” among cities competing for an MLB expansion team, pointing to Utah’s ownership group, secured stadium funding and proposed Power District site.
The push is being led by the Larry H. Miller Company, with plans for a new ballpark as part of a major development on Salt Lake City’s west side.
MLB has not officially awarded Utah a franchise or announced a final expansion timeline.
