Authorities say the 53-year-old suspect, whose name is not being released to protect the victim, was arrested at Salt Lake City International Airport and faces charges including object rape of a child and sexual abuse of a child.
A man identified as a religious bishop from Texas has been arrested in Utah and is facing multiple felony charges involving a minor relative.
According to authorities, the 53-year-old suspect was taken into custody at Salt Lake City International Airport after traveling back to the state. Investigators say the alleged incident occurred earlier at a home in South Jordan.
Court documents state the man is accused of engaging in sexual abuse involving a minor family member. He has been charged with first-degree object rape of a child and second-degree sexual abuse of a child.
Police say the victim later reported the incident, prompting an investigation. Authorities also noted the suspect had been arrested in Texas weeks earlier for a separate, similar allegation, though details about that case have not been released.
The suspect is currently being held without bail at the Salt Lake County Jail.
The case remains under investigation.
