noaa: 75% chance this winter's el niño becomes strongest since 1950
Southern Utah poised for above-average snowfall; Wasatch forecaster says pattern is "more complicated" but history offers hope for late-season powder.
UTAH COULD BE IN FOR A BIG WINTER
NOAA is forecasting a 75% chance that El Niño develops this winter, potentially becoming the strongest El Niño pattern since 1950.
For Utah, that doesn’t automatically guarantee a massive snow year. El Niño winters can impact different parts of the state differently, with Southern Utah potentially favored for above-average snowfall, while the Wasatch forecast remains more complicated.
Either way, Utah’s ski season could get interesting. 👀🏂
